പെരിയാർ നാഷണൽ പാർക്കും വന്യജീവി സങ്കേതവും

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ തേക്കടിയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന 925 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ വിസ്തൃതിയുള്ള ഒരു സംരക്ഷിത പ്രദേശമാണിത്. 1982 ലാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥാപിതമായത്.

ആന സംരക്ഷണ കേന്ദ്രം, കടുവ സംരക്ഷണ കേന്ദ്രം എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ ഇത് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. പെരിയാർ പക്ഷി നിരീക്ഷണത്തിനും പേരുകേട്ടതാണ്, പാർക്കിൽ 260-ലധികം ഇനം പക്ഷികൾ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.

കേരളത്തിലെ രണ്ട് പ്രധാന നദികളായ പെരിയാറിന്റെയും പമ്പയുടെയും പ്രധാന നീർത്തടമാണ് ഇത്.

തമിഴ്‌നാടിന്റെ അതിർത്തിയോട് ചേർന്ന് തെക്കൻ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ ഏലം കുന്നുകളിലും പന്തളം കുന്നുകളിലും ഇത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.

വന്യജീവികളുടെയും പ്രകൃതിദത്ത ആവാസ വ്യവസ്ഥകളുടെയും സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ പാർക്ക് ഇക്കോ-ടൂറിസത്തിന്റെ ജനപ്രിയ കേന്ദ്രമാണ്. കേരളത്തിലെ വനം വകുപ്പാണ് പാർക്ക് നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത്.
